Virginia Tech and the Science Museum of Western Virginia are proud to host the Virginia Tech Science Festival.
The Virginia Tech Science Festival is a free, public showcase for hands-on/minds-on activities and innovations. The festival features a wide range of exhibits and demonstrations. We launched the science festival in 2014, and have attracted between 3,000 and 6,000 people each year to engage with great work that is happening in our region. The science festival in Blacksburg typically hosts about 100 exhibits.
Our goal is for learners young and old to embrace the idea that “science is bigger than you think.” Science is a way of knowing about everything – people, trends, living things, economics, how things move, what people buy, probabilities, stars, animals, history, memory, physics, and so much more. We hope that young learners will see college in their future, and see Virginia Tech as the place to come to learn how to solve the problems of the world. As part of the College Access Collaborative, we partner with Virginia Cooperative Extension to bring families from partner school districts to the Virginia Tech Science Festival by charter bus. We also support school systems that bring field trips to the event. Last year we hosted over 600 K-12 students from 10 school systems.
Our festival partners include the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT), Science Museum of Western Virginia, the Center for Research in SEAD Education, the College of Science, Virginia Cooperative Extension, University Libraries, Continuing and Professional Education and the College Access Collaborative, among others, to coordinate a range of exciting and informative activities for festival-goers.
As you might guess, sponsorships are a vital component of ensuring the success of the festival. Download the sponsorship packet which includes the form to be submitted by Wednesday, October 9, 2019, to ensure that sponsors will be recognized on all festival materials. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact Christy Wallace at 540-231-6735 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you so much for making the Virginia Tech Science Festival a success. We look forward to seeing you in Blacksburg.
